At first I was a fan, then I was a hater, and now I say get the money.

Don’t know what I am talking about? Well it all started about a year ago when I was on youtube and I stumbled upon twerkteam. If you do not know their work then youtube them, but before you come to any quick conclusions ask them why they do it.

I was simply engrossed at how good they were at it. If you get past them having no choreography you will be surprised at how GREAT they are. Each one of them is beautiful black female. They are in shape and they have some great curves. They are also very good at dancing they have a lot of control over their behinds and they use them well.

This is silly right I use choreography to describe girls shaking their bum bums on youtube. Its not though. They are great and very talented.

At least that is how I felt when I first saw them. They continued to make videos and unlike many other girls on youtube who shake their rums these girls made videos consistently and they were strictly about twerking. Which if you do not know is not the norm for girls who dance on youtube. They are usually infrequent with their post and they usually like to talk and all this other stuff.

When I began to know them by name I decided that it was probably time to turn off youtube and I did. I returned a few months to see them doing their same antics less members this time, but same goal. A few months later I decided to figure out who they are. I went to their myspace accounts and saw that they have a manager who is one of their moms.

I was mortified. I never thought a mom would support her daughter shaking her backside for the world to see. Not only that if you’ve ever see any one of these “booty shaking” videos of any girl you will see that men will say whatever they want. They are degrading and inappropriate. And guessing some of the ages of these guys it is just plain sad. After I got over that fact it finally dawned on me. What in the world were they managing?

I did my research and learned that the twerkteam girls had gone from shaking on youtube to dancing at parties for people their age and doing music videos. They were being paid to shake their what? For whom?

My mortification now coupled with disgust forced me to no longer watch these girls. I simply could not understand how they could do this and why they would do it. It went from interesting to repulsing.

And now here I am reading “Money Shot” by Lawrence C. Ross a book about blacks in porn. It is a great book with interviews of some of the stalwarts of the industry. It looks at the history and psychology that goes into it. The first chapter sets the tone. Lexington Steele is his first interviewee and he gives you his skinny on the industry. How they view black people, what it takes to stay in the industry and more importantly the lack of control he has. Now he starts his own company so that he can have that control. This was echoed throughout many of the other actors he interviewed. After hearing why some of these people got into the industry I got to thinking.

Why should I look down upon these girls for making money doing for the most part the same thing many girls do for free? These girls who I first thought silly and immature appear to be much more intelligent than me as I have yet to find a way to make money based off of one of my skill sets.

With college only rising in price as long as these girls keep their wits about themselves they can make their money and dip out. As long as they don’t do it for too long they could simply disappear and end up being your doctor or your lawyer.

However if these girls continue to progress along these lines it could lead to something more provocative I wish they would not do this, but to each her own.

To make it plain these girls found a way to make money and as long as they don’t loose themselves they really would have done something innovative. These beautiful young ladies found a way to make money when most girls their age are thinking about their next crush these girls have zoned in on the next dollar.

I really hope these ladies keep their wits about themselves. And as much as I wish they had found some other way to make money I am proud these girls found a way to work for themselves doing something I suspect they enjoy.
